Cumbria County Council are undertaking repairs to three of the bridges at the top of Dentdale from 30th August. The road between Lea Yeat and Stonehouse will be closed for six weeks, meaning that there will be no vehicular access to Dentdale from the B6255 Hawes to Ingleton road at Newby Head until mid-October.
Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the closures, allowing Dales Way walkers to continue on the road section of the route through upper Dentdale.
The full length of the road will not be closed for the full six weeks as closures will take place sequentially i.e. if Lea Yeat bridge is fully closed, Stonehouse bridge will be open for local access and vice versa.
