Strike action on Northern rail services has been suspended after a “major breakthrough” in talks, the RMT union said today.
The union now says it has received a Department for Transport-backed guarantee that conductors will continue to work on all services throughout the duration of the current franchise according to the Yorkshire Post.
However, Saturday services will not resume to and from Dent Station until the 16th February.
Arriva Rail North – which operates the Northern franchise have said on their website, “Changing a strike timetable back to a normal timetable is a very complex task. It is unfortunately too late for Northern to reintroduce a full timetable in time for this Saturday (Feb 9).”
Replacement bus services will run on the Settle-Carlisle route, but none will serve Dent Station.
Northern add that, “From Saturday Feb 16, we are pleased to confirm that we will be running a full Saturday timetable.”
