Sun Inn

Walkers, dogs and muddy boots are all welcome (children until 9pm) at this traditional village pub.

Standing proudly at the top of Dent’s cobbled main street for more than 300 years, The Sun Inn is the original Dales village inn offering great value bed and breakfast in four originally furnished, characterful bedrooms.

Unspoilt by modern distractions, the pub offers a cosy atmosphere, no-nonsense home-cooking, an open fire, original coin-studded beams, and some good cheer to be had with the folks around the bar.

With local, real cask ales from Kirkby Lonsdale and additional guest beers from all over the country there’s the perfect pint to savour, either on its own or as an accompaniment to the bar meals on offer, ranging from light bites to giant home-made Cumberland Sausages. Open Monday to Saturday 11am-11pm and Sunday 12pm-10.30pm with food served Monday to Friday 12pm-2pm, 6.30pm-8.30pm and Saturday & Sunday 12pm-8.30pm

Coronavirus news (updated 2nd July 2020)

“You may have heard that the UK government has given the green light for pubs to reopen if possible from the 4th of July. Following the announcement, they have now published the guidance for businesses such as ours. Having read this document the difficult decision has been made to remain closed until further notice. I know many of you will be disappointed by this news. But with these new guidelines in mind, and the size and other restraints we have from a pub which is over 300 years old. We feel this is the right decision for both you as customers and us as staff. Take care. From all at The Sun Inn.”
