Dent Grammar School

Applications are being invited for the post of Property Manager at the Dent Grammar School Education Foundation (DGSEF). The charity, based in Dent, has three properties to care for and is offering an honorarium to the successful candidate.
Dent Grammar School was founded in 1605 through the generosity of various local benefactors who donated rent from land and farms towards the cost of running the school. It survived for almost three hundred years before finally closing in 1897. The governors could not compete with the cheaper schooling being offered at the ‘National’ elementary school opened in Dent in 1845.
DGSEF took on responsibility for administering the various endowments. Today, the main aim of the charity is to give grants to local students under the age of 25.
