Meadowside’s building on The Laning has had many uses over the
past century, first a chapel showing as early as 1852 on the
historical maps, then garage and storage area in the early part
of this century, with living accommodation being added in the
latter half of this century, which has all resulted in the
present day Meadowside Cafe, with its wonderful and ever
changing view of Rise Hill and the countryside at the rear of
the cafe. |

From breakfast to evening meals we try to provide a warm
friendly welcoming atmosphere, good food, and a fairly varied
choice to cover all tastes and requirements.
Our freshly cooked breakfasts start the day off well for
campers, walkers and day visitors alike - and it has been known
to have an orderly queue forming as early as 8 in the morning
with campers and caravanners eager to start their day the lazy
way, strolling around the corner from the excellent camping site
at High Laning Farm. |

Meadowside Placemats and Magnetic shopping Pads – are both
available for sale from the counter and make excellent souvenirs or
presents
Food Trends :
Favourite last year were the huge portions of apple pie ( more apple than
pie ) and our own homemade Sticky Toffee pudding with lashings of ice
cream, cream or custard, and a wonderful commendation from one lady
regarding the “scrumptious” banana cake – also our own recipe Dent Beer
cake – a mixture of Beer and Chocolate – and very moist - what more can we
say ?
We try to provide the best we can for our customers enjoyment without
compromising on quality or ingredients – and our ever increasing
repertoire of homemade cakes and scones are always in demand
We are receiving more and more requests for our recipes, and we do
intend to have a small book of recipes for sale in the not too distant
future
Visitors
Whenever you come to Meadowside - we are always pleased that you made us
your choice - and we have an embarrassing amount of Thank- you cards and
emails from many satisfied customers - its very nice that people take the
time to write when they have returned home - even abroad
NEWEST MEMBER OF STAFF - our Grand - daughter
 |
|
Jessica Emily - Still not able to wait on Tables- but good at food
testing and banging a wooden spoon on the countertop
Making scones is on her Training schedule for next year but she will
probably only get to cream and jam testing by mid summer 2007

VISITORS BOOK
So many of you have said so many nice things that it would be unfair of me
to comment on individual praise - but thanks to you all for your words of
encouragement and thanks – and parents – please police your children’s
entries – it’s a little embarrassing sometimes !
We have now filled two books over the past four years and are waiting to
replace them with a new one – there isn’t one at present – but an email is
always welcome
Some of our many memorable visitors include :
The dirty boys – well ! – even dogs don’t come in that black !!! – the dog
mats are still full of the grime you lot brought in !!!!! –
The Cody Family – on the wettest Dent Run known - glad the new baby didn’t
arrive on that day – we didn’t have enough towels left !!
The Morecambe Harriers – Phyllis and Tony , who left without paying on
their first visit – each thought that the other had paid - don’t try it
again folks - - - and thanks for all the cards from your holidays
The Italian Greyhound – something you felt needed to be on the mantelpiece
rather than the floor
Our own village tester of Puddings and soup - Jill – always honest – and
appreciative
The Snowdrop Trust Men – great to hear you all completed your cycle ride –
good luck to Maddie ! and thanks for the updates
Our milkman Gordon – who braves the worse weather and who we had to put up
for the night when the river flooded and he couldn’t get home.
