Health Warning

These web pages were inspired by John Sibley's course 'Gardening for Beginners' offered in the autumn of 2008 for our small community in Dentdale. John, himself an enthusiastic beginner, hoped to encourage others toward equal enthusiasm for growing vegetables. This site is intended primarily for the 20+ people who followed the course and are developing their own vegetable plots in the sometimes less than ideal growing conditions of Dentdale. (We had 86 inches of rain in 2008). These initial pages are based on and complement some of John's course content and he has agreed to produce a weekly diary of vegetable gardening activity as a prompt for those starting their vegetable plots this year. The hope is that other Dentdale gardeners will contribute ideas and experiences by sending text and pictures to Neville Allen, our webmaster. As for the 'Health Warning', it is simply to remember that we are all beginners!
