Ideally situated for the Dales Way and Yorkshire Dales Cycle Way, Stone Close provides a warm welcome for walkers, cyclists and all visitors to the quiet, picturesque village of Dent.

Stone Close is a 17th Century listed building, which was once two separate cottages. It has flagstone floor, cast iron ranges (with fires lit in cold weather) exposed beams and original fittings.

The Tea Room, now run as a co-operative, is famed for its delicious home baking and good, wholesome food, which is freshly cooked on the premises, using local, seasonal, organic and Fair Trade produce as far as possible.

Open all year, 12 noon until at least 4.30pm, Tuesday to Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays.  Closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve

 

Guests with special dietary requirements are especially welcome.  You can always be sure of vegetarian, dairy free, vegan and gluten free options on the menu - and any other special dietary requirement can be catered for — just let us know.

Hearty soups, served with crusty locally baked bread, £3.25

“Toast Toppers”,  including Lentil & Walnut Pate, Poached Eggs or Wensleydale Cheese,  served on hand-cut wholemeal toast.  £3.25  Or Morecambe Bay Potted Shrimps, £1.50 extra.

Sandwiches, eg. Avocado and Pine Nuts, Wensleydale cheese and homemade chutney, Home-roast ham with tomato and mustard, all served on hand-cut wholemeal bread with a garnish of salad and crisps. (Can also be served as a salad snack with rice cakes, oatcakes or spelt bread)   £4.75

"Meal in a Pot", a daily special, such as Spiced Butternut Squash, Sweet Potato and Butterbean curry, served with yoghurt and homemade chutney, or Traditional Lamb Hotpot, served with beetroot.  £6.00     

                
Risotto (made with brown rice, for better nutrition): a daily special, such as Mushroom, Cashew Nut and Wild Rice, or Spinach and Sun-dried Tomato.   £5.50

STONE CLOSE GUEST HOUSE  ***

On the ground floor we have an en-suite twin bedded room. This is a lovely room with original cast iron fireplace, which is thought to date from about 1840 and is reputed to be the oldest in the village. The walk-in wet-room is ideal for guests with limited mobility, (there are two steps down from street level, to access the room).
Room rate: £70 per night.

 

There are also two double bedrooms on the first floor, each with a hand-basin, and sharing a bathroom.
Room rate: £50 per night.

Each room has television, radio, and tea & coffee making facilities. In addition, guests are welcome to make use of the Tea Room in the evenings, where we have a number of games available, (occasionally the Tea Room opens for dinner in the evenings - please check on arrival for availability).

New for 2009:  Treatment/Quiet room, overlooking the Dale, available to guests for reading or meditation, unless pre-booked for holistic therapy treatments.

Breakfast is served in the Tea Room, between 8.30 and 9.00am

Our standard breakfast includes fresh fruit, juice, cereal or porridge, yoghurt, eggs (poached, boiled, scrambled or fried), with unlimited toast and a wide choice of tea and herbal infusions or fresh coffee..

Full English breakfast can be ordered the night before. There is an additional charge of £2.50 per person.

Packed lunches can be ordered from the Tea Room, £5.00 per person


In addition to providing good food and delightful accommodation.
Stone Close serves as a National Park information point.
