The full council consists of nine members, six for Dent and three for Cowgill,
supported by the parish clerk:

The council has three committees which manage the car park, the playing field and the implementation of the parish plan, and a working group that advises the council on its response to planning applications.  The committees have some delegated decision making powers, and two of them include members who are not on the parish council.  There is also a councillor who liaises with the Highways Steward, and a Litter sub-committee which organises litter picking in the Dale, most of whose members are not on the council.
