DENTDALE    In the Yorkshire Dales National Park

HIDDEN BRITAIN

The Discover Dentdale Hidden Britain Centre closed on the 3rd March 2008, 5 years after it was opened when the lease for the Bier Room expired. During that time, many people visited the Centre and hopefully, discovered some of the history and about the lives of the folk of Dentdale.

LOCATION

The centre was in a room next to the Tower of St. Andrew's Church. Although part of the church building, it was completely separate from the worship area and has it's own separate access. A new path was laid in  the churchyard to provide full disabled access to the room from the Main Street in the village.

ABOUT THE DISPLAY

The local community donated a considerable quantity of locally produced artwork, old photographs and data.
The display panels include a village plan and history of Dent village and linear plan and history of the Dale, an Adam Sedgwick panel and a wild life and wild flowers panel.

The information was put in leaflet form for people to take away and explore Dentdale, and included more information than on the panels.
