The Whernside Fell Race

2010 Race Saturday 25th September
Start 11.00am

 

From Church Bridge, Dent (GR707871) after a short climb up to Deepdale Lane, you run on the road for about one mile to join the Craven Way to Boot of the Wold where you go right to head for the summit passing Whernside Tarns. At the summit, run down to the head of Kingsdale to rejoin the Deepdale Lane for a short distance before going on to the Green Lane known locally as Occupation Road. Please note this year there is likely to be a cut off time on reaching this check point after which time runners will be compulsorily retired from the race. (watch out for details)

The track is then fairly level to Blea Gills before you climb again to Great Coum summit. It is all down hill from here to rejoin Occupational Road above Dent.

Run right along the 'Occy' passing Flintergill before dropping down hill to the finish where you started.

Distance 12.1 miles, total ascent 2971' marshalling by cave rescue org. Race Sponsor La Sportiva.
